Our Group Operations

The company began operations in 1998, establishing a symbiotic relationship with the Zimbabwe Iron and Steel Company (ZISCO). Initially, our operations focused on two rolling mills producing light and medium structural steel sections using blooms and billets supplied by ZISCO. Over time, the company expanded its product range and ventured into value addition through both upward and downward integration. This strategic growth aimed to enhance self-reliance across the supply chain.

SIMBI sponge iron manufacturing facility

SIMBI

SIMBI Pvt (Ltd) is a venture of Steelmakers Zimbabwe group that began in 2004. We manufacture sponge iron (DRI) to fulfill in-house and export demand. We use our own raw materials that we mine at Glenlivet and Chiredzi.

Glenlivet iron ore mining facility

GLENLIVET

Our Glenlivet operations consist of our iron ore mining facility. The mine is situated 40km from Masvingo.

Chiredzi coal mining operations

CHIREDZI

Situated in the outskirts of Chiredzi, the operations started in June 2006. It produces various grades of coal consumed in-house and in the local and regional markets.

Redcliff steel production plant

REDCLIFF

The plant in Redcliff uses scrap metal and sponge iron produced in Masvingo in specific ratios as feedstock for the production of steel ranging from mild steel to low and medium alloy steel.

Constructed to address water challenges. The borehole provides enough clean water for both the plant and the local community.

Oxygen Gas Division

Equipped with state-of-the-art production and analytical instrumentation. Guarantees high purity for applications like cutting, brazing, and welding in various industries.

Scrap Metal Recycling

Steelmakers is the largest collector of scrap metal and users in Zimbabwe.

Foundry Division

The foundry is equipped with State-of-the-art induction furnaces able to serve a wide market of all types of castings for any application as per customer specification in the manufacturing, mining and agriculture industries.

Silica Crushing

Silica crushing plant ramming mass is used to ram the induction furnaces lining we are making the ramming mass for 4mm to 0.002mm sizes using silica stones.
